If you hire an attorney you do not need to appear at the arraignment which is the first court date that the Judge or the Jail will give you. Many times we can waive your appearance at most of the future court dates as well. If you are charged with a Misdemeanor then you can actually do everything through the mail unless you want a trial.
If you live out of state and are put on felony probation you may have issued returning home right away until probation approves the transfer.
Your best bet is to call a local attorney here in Central Florida right away and try to get someone to help you through the court process.
