Grand Theft Juvenile

Grand Theft Juvenile. It kind of sounds like a new video game. But for one young man, this could be game over.

A 15 year-old boy was arrested this past Tuesday after officials said he was caught stealing over $1,000 worth of cell phones from retail stores in the Seminole County area.

He wasn't alone, as he was joined by five other males, but it does appear that he was the "ring leader". Their actions were very brazen, as they stole one cellphone valued at over $600 and didn't even attempt to pay for it. They walked out of the store as carefree as could be.

The minor was eventually arrested in Oviedo, FL. He was charged with one count of grand theft, organized retail theft of $300 or more coordinated with others.

Despite his young age, it isn't going to help him catch any legal breaks. There are three levels of Grand Theft in Florida.

1) First Degree is for property stolen that is valued at $100,000 or more.

2) Second Degree is for stolen property valued at between $20,000 and $99,999.

3) Third Degree is for $300 to $19,999 of stolen property.

There are many different defenses for Grand Theft. It is important for your attorney to explain every available defense to you. Our law firm has over a decade of experience in dealing with these charges.
