Hit and Run leads to death

On Behalf of | May 12, 2014 | Hit And Run

The Orlando – Central Florida area has been jokingly referred to as the “hit and run capital of the world”. Nothing funny about it, especially when it rings so true.

This past weekend, a man was killed after being hit by a car while walking along U.S. 441 in an Orange County hit-and-run crash mystery. The man was standing on the sidewalk at the bus stop on the west side of U.S. 441 around 2:48 a.m., when he was struck by a Nissan Altima that was traveling southbound in the center lane on U.S. 441.

The right front of the car struck the victim and then the driver fled the scene heading south on U.S. 441. It is believed that the right side mirror and front bumper of the Nissan Altima might have significant damage.  Florida Highway Patrol is looking into all possibilities, as the crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending against this driver for leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

In the state of Florida this is a very serious felony charge in Florida. Whomever is arrested for this will need to act quickly in hiring an attorney. Did they lose control of their car? Was there alcohol involved? Did they panic after the accident? The defense attorney will need to know these answers, as well as figuring out the steps the prosecution is likely to take in pursuing a case involving a “hit and run”. Trying to find eyewitnesses will prove to be critical in solving what really went down.
