School is out for the summer, but the court is still open. Over in Apopka, FL, a language arts middle school teacher has learned this, as she stood before a judge after being arrested for the second time in the past week.
She was originally charged with child neglect involving her own child, but now she is accused of taking part in sexual acts with a 13 year old girl. She is accused of committing those acts with a male friend, who also engaged in sexual activity with the teen girl. It is unclear how these adults know the young girl, but the teacher's two children have been placed in the Department of Children and Families custody.
Molestation is a damning accusation that could ruin this teacher's career even if she is exonerated. Depending on the facts of the case, she could be facing anywhere from three years to life in prison if she is found guilty. Aside from possible jail time, she would most certainly have to register as a sex offender. Even if she and her male friend considered the sexual acts with the young girl to be consensual, they will be mandated to register as sex offenders. Being on that list will limit their future life opportunities. It will stay with them forever, especially since the girl they molested is so young. Their defense lawyer will have to dig deep for some facts to help them avoid serious punishment. But judging from what has been stated so far, they have their work cut out for them.
