Red light camera Archives

Are Red Light Cameras Unconstitutional?

We know they are annoying, but are red-light cameras unconstitutional? Well, it depends on whom you ask, but it is starting to seem that way. Over in Hollywood, FL, The Florida Supreme Court has declined to hear the city's appeal of an earlier court loss. This is yet another major blow for red-light cameras. It's unclear whether or not the program is officially dead.

The beginning of the end for Red Light Cameras?

Forget speeding. Forget toll violations. In the Orlando and Central Florida area, it seems that public enemy number 1 for drivers are those pesky red light cameras. It has been this way for some time now. Many drivers and attorneys believe that red light cameras are operated unlawfully throughout the entire state of FL.

Could your driver's license be suspended without you knowing?

It would be a heart-stopping moment. You open up your mail and find a letter saying you have had your driver's license suspended due to failing to pay for a "red light camera violation". Sadly, in the state of Florida, this is happening far too often.

Red Light Cameras illegal before 2010

Red light camera tickets are an epidemic. People are unclear about the whole process and with good reason. Not helping with the confusion is the fact that the machines have a history of malfunction. Turning right on red seems to confuse drivers, and the machines, the most. When a driver makes the turn in a slow and cautious manner the turn shouldn't result in a violation. But there have been machines catching drivers making this legal maneuver, as well as the camera going off sometimes during a yellow light, and even "catching" parked cars.
