New Product Claims to Prevent “False Positive” Breathalyzer Results

On Behalf of | Sep 17, 2012 | DUI

An attorney, former state patrol sergeant and plastic surgeon recently teamed up to create a new product aimed at reducing the rates of “false positive” breathalyzer tests. False positive tests occur, according to this team, when alcohol in the mouth leads to “inaccurate field breath tests.”

Breathalyzer Equalizer is a powder that is placed in the mouth and works to eliminate the presence of alcohol. The creators state the product does not impact the presence of alcohol in the blood, but only removes alcohol from the mouth. As a result, it will not keep a drunk driver from receiving a DUI charge. Instead, it will only reduce the risk of a false reading due to the presence of alcohol in the mouth.

DUI Charges Lead to Severe Penalties

The new product highlights the fact that breathalyzer tests are not always accurate and can lead to false arrests.

It is important for all drivers to keep in mind that a DUI charge can lead to severe penalties and need to be taken seriously. Penalties associated with a DUI can include:

  • Imprisonment
  • Fines
  • Suspension of driver’s license
