Seminole County Driving While License Suspended

On Behalf of | Sep 13, 2013 | Criminal Law

As a former Seminole County Prosecutor I know firsthand how serious the courts take Driving While License Suspended or Revoked charges. In Seminole County many of these cases can result in jail time, probation and the loss of your driving privileges for up to 5 years.

Driving a car with a suspended license with knowledge is a criminal charge that starts as a 2nd degree misdemeanor and is enhanceable which means the next one is a 1st degree misdemeanor which is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or up to one year probation and a 3rd or subsequent charge can be filed as a 3rd degree felony which is punishable up to 5 years in state prison and/or 5 years supervised probation.

Any of these charges regardless of the degree can result in a criminal conviction on your record and a loss of liberty.

A very important aspect of this charge is that if you get three (3) driving while license suspended with or without knowledge charges you will become a habitual traffic offender and will lose your license for a 5 year period. You can apply for a hardship license after you go a year without driving for the remaining 4 years of the suspension.

There are ways to beat these charges. Was the reason for the cop stopping you valid? Can you get your license fixed before the first court date? There are many other questions that can be answered by calling the Law Office of Corey Cohen for a free and confidential consultation to discuss your case fully. Do not go to court alone. Hire an experienced attorney to stand by your side in court.
