Armed robbery at Circle K

There are many kinds of robbery charges under Florida law. Robbery with or without a weapon, with a firearm, snatching, etc. Robbery with a firearm is the most serious type. It's a first degree felony, which is punishable by life in prison.

Case in point: deputies are searching for an armed robber who pulled a gun on a convenience store clerk early Tuesday morning in Orlando, FL. The incident took place at a Circle K store located on Orange Blossom Trail. The suspect went into the convenience store and pulled a gun on the clerk behind the counter, and then left with cash.

Authorities have a good idea of what the suspect looks like. Describing him as in his 20s, about 6-feet tall, wearing sunglasses, a hoodie sweatshirt and a bandana over his face. There is no doubt that this suspect will be caught and arrested. Will he have proper representation? And if so, what is his next step?

If he is charged with "robbery with a firearm", he will not be entitled to a bond and might be held in jail until his trial. His defense lawyer can hold a bond hearing on his behalf and then do their best to get him a bond, pending trial. There's a minimum mandatory jail sentence on a charge like this one; which means that he will have to serve his sentence "day for day" without any time served for good behavior. For example, if his sentence is 10 years, he will most likely serve all 10.
