Two teachers charged with having sex with a juvenile

On Behalf of | Oct 2, 2014 | Sex Crimes

It seems like we hear or read about a story involving teachers having sex with their students more and more. It used to be male teachers getting arrested for this act, but now over the past few years it’s been female teachers in trouble with law.

Two female high school teachers in Louisiana were charged with “carnal knowledge of a juvenile” and “contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile”. The authorities were notified by school administrators when the teen was caught bragging to other students about his relationship with both teachers. Investigators confirmed that all three were together at one of the teachers’ home until early morning hours on numerous occasions. Deputies then interviewed the student and he provided them with an account of what allegedly happened, explaining to the authorities that it was consensual. Just because it may have been “consensual” doesn’t mean that these two teachers are going to get away with it. Now, investigators are collecting further evidence from their cellphones with images of the three parties together.

No matter what state you live in, being charged with a sex crime involving a minor is major deal. Depending on the charge and the circumstances of the case, a conviction can lead to years in prison and mandatory registration as a sex offender. A conviction for child sexual abuse carries a stigma to the convicted person, that may follow them for the rest of their life. The defense team for these two teachers will need to thoroughly investigate this case. Hopefully, for the ladies’ sake, the lawyers can negotiate with the prosecutors for a reduction in charges and a light sentence.
