Racing Carries Heavy Consequences

Movies like Fast & Furious and Need For Speed make it look so cool.

Revving up the engage, putting your foot forcefully on the accelerator as you see a green light, swirving in and out of traffic to get ahead of a friends. All fun and games until you are caught by the police, or even worse... you're the cause of a car accident that leads to a fatality.

We were all horrified when we learned about the tragic car crash that took the life of actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas. Rodas was behind the wheel of a speeding 2005 Porsche Carrera GT when he lost control and hit a concrete light pole, which led to both men dying instantly as the car burst into flames.

They were driving 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. These were just two friends out for a joy ride in a cool sports car, in an area that didn't have any traffic. So imagine if they had been racing other friends in a crowded neighborhood.

Far too often the outcome of racing and reckless driving ends up in legal hell.

Florida's law of "racing on highways" makes it a criminal misdemeanor. There is a vast difference between a "racing" arrest and getting a common speeding ticket. FL law also makes it illegal to be a spectator for any type of "drag race".

Any knowledgeable attorney should tell you that if you plead guilty to this charge, you are possibly pleading guilt to a crime you did not commit and perhaps something that the prosectution can't even prove you did.

The consequences of being caught racing can lead to headaches involving severe license issues, hefty fines and much worse. Our law firm knows every angle of the criminal justice system and won't rest until you are cleared.
