Lewd and Lascivious embarrassment

On Behalf of | Jun 16, 2014 | Sex Crimes

There are embarrassing acts to be arrested for, and then there is being charged for Lewd and Lascivious behavior. The words “lewd” and “lascivious” are synonymous with wicked behavior. But just how wicked depends on different cases.

Just this weekend a man in Volusia County, FL, was charged with exposing himself to two young girls. Deputies say the two young girls, ages 12 and 13, were playing at a nearby property when they saw the 53-year-old man sitting on his porch, allegedly exposing himself to them. The man was arrested and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition. He remains in the Volusia County Branch Jail on $20,000 bond.

You’d be surprised how often a charge like this one is just a huge misunderstanding. Could the girls have been playing a prank? Maybe the man was enemies with the parents of the girls? But when the case involves children, someone in this man’s situation is going to need a dedicated defense attorney to get him out of this legal mess. Usually lewd or lascivious exhibition charges result from a variety of inappropriate behavior committed in the presence of a child. They range from being caught masturbating, to intentionally exposing your genitals.

If you’ve been charged with lewd or lascivious exhibition in the state of Florida, you could be looking at some serious punishment. If convicted you can receive a jail sentence of up to 15 years. It also comes with the humiliation of being declared a sex offender.
