Forget the drink “Sex on the Beach”. A couple in Florida took the phrase literally. The couple from Bradenton were arrested after they had sex on a public beach, this past Sunday. Several children were among the stunned onlookers, just in case you thought this couldn’t get any more awkward. The man and woman were charged with lewd and lascivious behavior for their public indecency. A citizen on the beach recorded the incident and turned the shocking video over to the Bradenton police.
The man who was arrested is a personal trainer, who served several years in prison for cocaine trafficking. While this new run-in with the law seems like small potatoes compared to drug crimes, he and his girlfriend still have to deal with these embarrassing charges. It’s a crime to reveal your sexual organs in a public setting or in front of unwitting participants. Exposing your genitals or sexual organs is classified as the crime of “indecent exposure”.
If they obtain the services of a skilled defense lawyer, they shouldn’t end up facing any major penalities. But there are still some serious penalties they could face for indecent exposure, if they aren’t too careful. Can you imagine having sex with a boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife in a public setting and ending up on a sex offender registry? So what you might consider as some risque fun, could be viewed as “lewd or lascivious exhibition”. Unfortunately for this couple, it applies to them because their “sexual performance” was in the presence of children under the age of 16.
