Arrested for sending Lewd photos to minors

On Behalf of | Aug 11, 2014 | Sex Crimes

In our world of Skype and Snapchat, and of course good old regular “sexting”, it’s not surprising to hear all of the stories on the news about arrests for sending “lewd” pictures. Most of these cases involve one adult sending their pics to someone under the age of 18.

In the past few months in FL, there have been several cases like this. Back in June, a school teacher from Largo, Florida was arrested after the police discovered nude photos of her on a 17 year-old boy’s cell phone. Just a couple of weeks before that, a 30 year-old police officer from Marco Island was busted for sending nudes to a minor. And to top all of this off, back in May we got a “superhero” involved in the sending sexy pics craze. A 29 year-old man was arrested for sending pictures of his genitals to a 16 year-old girl, while he was playing Captain America at Universal Studios in Orlando.

These are all embarrassing offenses, but if someone is caught in a mess like this they must have some hope for legal justice. While someone in this situation might not consider their crime to be “child pornography”, the prosecution certainly will. A defense lawyer can investigate whether or not your constitutional rights were violated, or if the minor had an axe to grind and was looking to get you in trouble. This is as serious a crime as it is humiliating. While trying to avoid conviction and jail time, your attorney will fight to make sure you don’t end up on a sex offender’s list.
