A 35-year-old Florida man was recently sentenced on charges of minor sex trafficking and production of child pornography. The man received a sentence of life in prison and 10 years of supervised release.

Reportedly, the Florida resident had the minor girls come to his residence and complete an application that included their name, birth date and sexual activities to which they would be willing to perform. When the man accused of the crimes found out that some were underage, he reportedly advised them not to tell the customers. According to the evidence, the man also took pictures of the girls and used these pictures when inviting others to his home.

Based on evidence in the trail, the invitations were sent in mass texts and included the night’s planned activities. Seven minors total were involved in the offenses. The minors either worked or were recruited to work for the man as prostitutes. A cover charge was taken at the front door and the girls would dance for tips and engage in sexual acts with male customers for money.

Sexual trafficking of minors, possession and creation of child pornography, and other sexually based offenses can carry major penalties in the state of Florida. It’s true that innocent people are charged with crimes every day and that police do make mistakes. A person charged with a crime, particularly a felony involving sex crimes and children, is facing a life-changing battle with the police and prosecution.

Here, the accused received life in prison and another person who pled guilty received 13 years in prison. Time spent in prison can vary based on the severity of the crime, involvement of the offender and the number of charges against a person. A person charged should be extremely careful from the moment of questioning. Sex crimes are serious and carry heavy penalties for a person who is convicted. This is not a situation that anyone should try to face alone.
