Ben Houston King is a third-generation native Floridian, born and raised in Ocala. Growing-up, his family owned and operated Wayne's Dry Cleaners on Silver Springs Boulevard, and he attended St. John Lutheran High School. His family still resides in Ocala, where his brother ran Pet Palace: Nutrition and Boutique and his mother works as a mental health counselor for the Florida state prison system.

He received both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in 2015. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in December of 2017, ranked fourth in his class and receiving three book awards for during his tenure. While in law school, Ben served as the President of the school's Honor Committee and presided over Student Conduct Hearings for both undergraduate and law school students facing disciplinary actions. Ben also participated as a Certified Legal Intern for UF Law's Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic where he helped survivors of domestic violence obtain protection against abusers through court-ordered injunctions.

After law school at the University of Florida, Ben passed the Florida Bar in February 2018 and was invited to be the head of legal compliance and an assistant to in-house counsel for a start-up commercial cannabis and medical marijuana company based out of Seattle with operations in California, Hawaii, Iowa, Oregon, and Washington state. Ben oversaw legal compliance over all operations for the company and assisted human resources with trainings as well as the negotiations and drafting of the first collective bargaining agreement for retail cannabis workers in the state of Washington. Ben organized volunteer and community service projects, including organizing a fundraiser for the 2018 Camp Fire in California and a company-wide "Sock Drive" to collect and donate the most requested clothing item at shelters: Socks.

Ben King took and passed the California state bar exam in February of 2019, but did not seek admission, choosing instead to return home to Central Florida and become an Assistant Public Defender for the Ninth Circuit in Kissimmee, Florida. Ben worked with hundreds of clients from all sorts of backgrounds, helping them through some of the most difficult times in their lives. Ben helped numerous clients facing domestic violence battery, driving under the influence (DUI), and other misdemeanor or traffic-related offenses in county court and assisted people with felony charges in circuit court as well. Ben had over ten jury trials during his tenure at the Public Defender's office and has a proven track record of success.

After spending more than two years as an Assistant Public Defender, Ben moved into private practice as a civil plaintiff's attorney in summer of 2021. He practiced law assisting people with property damage claims against their home-owner's insurance and individuals with serious personal injuries resulting from motor vehicle collisions, premise liability claims, and other claims against business owners and insurance companies acting in bad faith.

Ben Houston King is currently an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Corey I. Cohen & Associates, where he practices both criminal defense and personal injury cases. Ben King is based out of Orlando, Florida, and is licensed to practice in any Florida county or circuit court. Ben handles criminal defense for all types of charges and offenses and assists clients with a variety of personal injuries from car crashes to trip-and-fall accidents and more.
